우선 이곡으로 빌리 조엘은 무명을 씻은 대히트를 쳤어요.
1974년 동명 타이틀 앨범으로서 빌리의 자전적 앨범

(그는 그당 시 칵테일 바의 피아니스트로 일했었다.)
곡 배경은 철강노동자들이 첨단방식의 도입으로 일자리를 잃어
대거 실직하자 그중 한 노동자가 술집 피아노맨으로 취직해

그의 눈에 비친 노동자들의 비참한 삶을 노래한거죠.
